McAfee Positioned in the Leaders Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management in Gartner's Magic Quadrant

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jun 05, 2013 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- McAfee today announced that leading research firm Gartner, Inc. has positioned the company in the leaders quadrant in its "Magic Quadrant for Security Information and Event Management" as published on May 7, 2013*. Gartner's research examined leading vendors who offer solutions in the security information and event management (SIEM) marketplace.
According to the report, "The SIEM Leaders quadrant is composed of vendors that provide products that are a good functional match to general market requirements, have been the most successful in building an installed base and revenue stream within the SIEM market, and have a relatively high viability rating (due to SIEM revenue or SIEM revenue in combination with revenue from other sources). In addition to providing technology that is a good match to current customer requirements. Leaders also show evidence of superior vision and execution for anticipated requirements. They typically have relatively high market share and/or strong revenue growth, and have demonstrated positive customer feedback for effective SIEM capabilities and related service and support."

The key criteria used to evaluate vendors were the customers' need to analyze security event data in real-time for internal and external threat management, and to collect, store, analyze, and report on log data for regulatory compliance and forensics.
"Seconds mean the difference between a successful attack and a blocked one," said Ken Levine, general manager of the security management business unit at McAfee. "Organizations need actionable intelligence in real-time so intelligent actions can be taken quickly. We believe McAfee's position in the leaders quadrant demonstrates the ability of our SIEM solution to offer the critical combination of intelligence and speed while lowering operational costs. While we maintain our focus of being the strongest stand-alone SIEM solution, we are also dedicated to continually delivering added value through meaningful integrations with other leading McAfee solutions."
McAfee Enterprise Security Manager provides active integration with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator software, McAfee Network Security Platform and McAfee Vulnerability Manager. McAfee Enterprise Security Manager is the only SIEM that is smart and fast at the same time - providing real-time actionable security intelligence. Recently McAfee Enterprise Security Manager received a 5 star ranking and Best Buy designation in SC Magazine's SIEM Group Test.
